Year 9 North-East Space Event

A group of our Year 9 pupils had an out-of-this-world experience at the North East Space Event at Newcastle University last week.
 
Throughout the day, they took part in four exciting, hands-on workshops. They explored rocket design in a rocketry session, designed and tested their own gliders in an aerospace workshop (even trying out a flight simulator!) and learned more about to observe the Sun and other planets using a telescope during a Seastar workshop. To finish, pupils got up close with a drone capture system before designing and presenting their own innovative ideas for their own capture system. 
 
This fantastic opportunity gave pupils real insight into careers in space, science, and engineering. Pupils’ behaviour, manners and engagement were outstanding throughout—they had a brilliant time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
