Eco Strategy

At Academy 360, we are proud to be part of a growing movement that places nature and sustainability at the heart of education. As part of the National Education Nature Park and Climate Action Awards, our Eco Strategy empowers pupils from Reception to Year 6 to take meaningful action for the planet - helping shape a healthier, greener future for both people and nature.

Since joining the programme in Summer 2024, we have begun embedding nature into everyday teaching and learning, with the support of high-quality resources, expert guidance and collaboration across our school community. By connecting our curriculum to climate and ecological topics, we're helping children develop a lifelong connection to the natural world, while improving wellbeing, supporting real scientific research and contributing to nature recovery across the country.

This work is delivered in partnership with the Laidlaw Foundation, The Royal Horticultural Society and the National Education Nature Park - helping us to inspire future generations to care, act and lead on environmental change.

Alongside this work, we are proud to have an established Eco Team, made up of pupils who meet once or twice each term to share updates, discuss ideas and support the delivery of our Eco Strategy across the school. The Eco Team plays a key role in ensuring pupil voice is central to our environmental actions.

As part of our ambition to achieve the Eco Schools Green Flagship Award, we have created our own Eco Code, which reflects our shared commitment to protecting the environment. Our Eco Code is presented as an acrostic poem, spelling out ECO CODE:

E – Everyone reduces, reuses and recycles.
C – Care for our school, our community and our wildlife.
O – Our future depends on what we do now!

C – Cutting electricity usage.
O – Our school can make a difference.
D – Don’t litter or waste, keep our planet a happy place.
E – Everyone does their bit to protect our planet.

Since applying for the Eco Schools Green Flagship Award, we have agreed to have recycling bins added across our environment and have taken steps to make our school grounds a more habitable and welcoming place for local wildlife. We also aim to keep our local community up to date with all things eco, ensuring that our work extends beyond the school gates so that we can truly make a difference.

The following booklet showcases the eco-related projects and activities that our year groups have been working on so far. It highlights the progress already made and serves as an ongoing resource to support the continued delivery of our Eco Strategy.
