A group of Year 9 pupils from Academy 360 recently visited the British Esports Student Campus in Sunderland for an exciting careers-focused experience exploring opportunities within the rapidly growing esports and digital industries.

The visit followed a recent careers insight day at the Beacon of Light, where pupils were introduced to the esports sector, learning about the wide range of careers available and the skills required to succeed within the industry.

Hosted by the British Esports Federation, the follow-up event provided pupils with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the sector while experiencing first-hand one of the UK's leading esports education and training facilities.

The day began with a welcome and introduction before pupils were given a guided tour of the campus. They explored the innovative facilities used by students and gamers from across the country, gaining insight into the technology, equipment and learning environments that support the industry.

Pupils then took part in sessions focusing on esports tournaments, video production and broadcasting, helping them discover the diverse range of careers that exist beyond professional gaming. The workshops highlighted opportunities in areas such as event management, content creation, marketing, production, media and technology.

Following lunch, pupils worked collaboratively on an Esports Business Challenge, applying their creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills to real-world scenarios. The challenge encouraged pupils to think strategically while developing key employability skills that are valuable across a wide range of future careers.

The visit provided an engaging and informative insight into a fast-growing industry and helped pupils explore potential pathways within the digital and creative sectors.

Academy 360 is proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and professionalism shown by all pupils throughout the day. Experiences such as these play an important role in broadening aspirations and helping young people make informed decisions about their future education and career choices.

We would like to thank the British Esports Federation and the British Esports Student Campus team for providing such a valuable and inspiring experience for our pupils.
