Year 9 Pupils Build Confidence and Explore Sunderland’s Future at Sheepfolds Stables

A group of Year 9 pupils from Academy 360 recently took part in an inspiring and confidence-building experience at Sheepfolds Stables, joining young people from schools across Sunderland for a day of personal development and city-wide engagement.

Delivered by the team at Loud Speaker, the event encouraged pupils to step outside their comfort zones, develop their communication skills and explore the opportunities emerging across Sunderland as the city continues to evolve.

The day began with a welcome breakfast and icebreaker activities, helping pupils to connect with one another and build confidence ahead of a series of interactive workshops. Working in small groups, pupils took part in engaging activities designed to encourage teamwork, self-expression and discussion about the future they would like to see for themselves and their city.

Throughout the sessions, pupils were encouraged to share their views, explore their strengths and develop the confidence to speak up about the issues that matter most to them. The workshops created a supportive environment where young people could challenge themselves, listen to others and gain valuable skills that will support them both in school and beyond.

As part of the day, pupils also took part in a guided tour and scavenger hunt across the new Keel Crossing. The visit gave them a first-hand look at the significant developments taking place in Sunderland and an opportunity to learn more about the investment and regeneration projects helping to shape the city's future.

The experience provided valuable insight into the opportunities available to young people in Sunderland while helping pupils recognise the important role they can play in the city's continued growth and success.
