14 of our Year 7 pupils took part in a Careers Insight Day, visiting two local manufacturing companies, Polyfoam XPS and Cicor, to learn more about the fast-paced and innovative world of advanced manufacturing.

The visit began at Polyfoam XPS, where pupils discovered what polyfoam is, how it’s produced and its many applications within homes and buildings. As part of the experience, pupils were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the factory and saw the production process in action, a fascinating insight into industrial manufacturing and materials engineering.

Following this, pupils headed to Cicor, an electronics factory, where they were introduced to the intricate process of creating circuit boards used in everyday electronic devices. The tour gave them a real sense of the precision, scale and technology involved in modern electronics manufacturing.

To round off the morning, pupils were treated to a well-earned pizza lunch and received some goodies to take away, a brilliant end to a valuable and engaging experience.

Our pupils were excellent representatives of the school throughout, showing curiosity, respect and enthusiasm as they explored potential future career paths in STEM and manufacturing.
