Healthy Heads

The Healthy Heads Team is a school based mental health service built up of Primary Mental Health Specialists, Speech and Language Therapist, Primary Mental Health Workers, Senior Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMPH) and trainee EMHPS. Healthy Heads support children, young people and their families who are struggling with mild – moderate mental health and emotional wellbeing difficulties.

Healthy Heads provide low intensity, evidence-based treatment for mild to moderate mental health difficulties. This can be in groups or one to one therapy, for a variety of commence mental health issues. These include:

  • Low mood
  • Worry and anxiety
  • Self-harming behaviours
  • Behavioural difficulties
  • Building self esteem
  • Development resilience

Washington Mind

Washington Mind offers personal centre counselling for those aged 11 and above, who are experiencing, or who are at risk of, developing mental ill health and emotional distress. All their counsellors are fully qualified on the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) professional register.

Emotional Health & Resilience Nurse (EHRN)

The 0-19 Emotional Health Service is focused on delivering improved health and wellbeing outcomes for children and young people to ensure they all enjoy good health. The service works to building resilience amongst children and young people by providing them with the tools to cope in challenging and difficult times, to reduce the risk of poor mental health. This can include:

  • Anxiety
  • Worry
  • Self esteem
  • Low mood
  • Anger
  • Emotional regulation
  • Exam stress

HAF Programme

Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) - Wear Here 4 programme is a Department for Education funded programme delivered locally by Together for Children. It provides fun, enriching activities and tasty, nutritious meals during school holidays for children and young people across Sunderland. From sports and dance to arts, crafts, outdoor fun and even science. There are also sessions focused on cooking skills and nutrition, helping families make healthy choices at home. It's a great way for young people to socialise, learn new skills and stay active

Criteria - if you live in Sunderland aged between 4 and 16 years old and are eligible for free school meals.
