Our Academy 360 Coding Club had an inspiring trip today, giving pupils the chance to see their digital designs transformed into real-world creations.

After weeks of dedication in after-school sessions, including completing the Turtle Stitch module where they learnt to code geometric shapes and patterns, the pupils finally put their skills to the test outside the classroom.

The group travelled to Gateshead Library, where they were welcomed by the Altitude Foundation, who provided a full day of hands-on learning. Pupils began with a talk and an introduction to the process before moving on to creating their own coded drinks coasters. Working with focus and creativity, each student developed a design and then shared their finished coaster with the rest of the group.

The highlight of the day came during the prize ceremony, where pupils celebrated their achievements and reflected on the progress they had made throughout the programme. Lunch, evaluations, and a final thank-you concluded the trip before the group returned to school, proud of what they had accomplished.

Seeing their digital designs brought to life was a moment of real pride for the pupils and a demonstration of their problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance. The trip also offered an opportunity to celebrate the skills they’ve developed in coding, teamwork, and design.

Academy 360 would like to thank the Altitude Foundation for organising such a memorable and inspiring event. Their support helped make today a fantastic experience and a real celebration of what our students can achieve.
