Academy 360 Secondary Celebrates World Book Day
Back
Pupils and staff at Academy 360 Secondary came together last week to celebrate World Book Day with a range of creative and engaging activities designed to promote a love of reading across the Academy.
One of the highlights of the week was the ‘decorate the door’ competition, where classrooms transformed their doors into colourful displays inspired by well-known books and literary themes. The creativity on display captured the imagination of pupils and staff alike and brought characters and stories to life throughout the Academy.
Alongside the competition, pupils also took part in a number of other activities. These included a reading-themed scavenger hunt, a ‘forbidden books’ competition encouraging pupils to explore influential texts, and assemblies for all year groups focusing on the importance of reading. Departments also delivered subject-specific celebration lessons which linked reading to their curriculum areas, while form time included opportunities for pupils to ‘share a story’ and enjoy reading together.
The winners of the various competitions are being announced this week, with prizes awarded to recognise their efforts and celebrate their achievements.
The week of activities provided pupils with an opportunity to explore stories in new and exciting ways, reinforcing the importance of reading both at Academy 360 and beyond.
