Year 8 Pupils Explore Careers in Digital Technology at BT Group
Back
Last week, a group of our Year 8 pupils had the exciting opportunity to step inside the world of digital technology during an insight day at BT Group’s office in Gosforth. The visit was designed to give pupils a closer look at one of the UK’s leading technology companies and inspire them to think about future careers in this fast-growing sector.
The day began with an introduction to BT Group and an overview of the digital technology industry, highlighting the wide range of roles available and the key skills employers look for. Pupils learnt how creativity, problem-solving and teamwork are just as important as technical knowledge in this field.
They were then taken on a tour of BT’s impressive facilities, exploring the huge workspace and seeing first-hand how technology drives innovation across the company. Along the way, pupils met employees from different departments who shared their career journeys and gave valuable insights into what it’s like to work in digital technology.
The highlight of the day was a hands-on enterprise challenge. Working in teams, pupils were tasked with designing a new product to help students stay focused and avoid distractions from devices. This activity encouraged them to think like entrepreneurs; developing ideas, pitching solutions and considering how technology can be used to solve everyday problems.
Our pupils represented Academy 360 brilliantly throughout the visit, showing enthusiasm, creativity and excellent teamwork. They left feeling inspired and with a better understanding of the exciting opportunities available in the digital sector.
A huge thank you to BT Group for hosting such an informative and engaging day. Experiences like this are invaluable in helping our pupils explore future career paths and develop the skills they’ll need for success.
