On Wednesday 1st October, our Year 8 students visited Nissan to learn about the world of manufacturing and engineering.

The visit began with an activity encouraging teamwork, problem solving and creativity, where pupils were challenged to design and build wind-powered cars. Through this, students developed practical skills in planning, collaboration and innovation, while also practising critical thinking to refine their designs. After planning and creating their cars, each group tested their designs against one another, producing some impressive results.

“Today's insight morning really gave us a real insight into the world of engineering and manufacturing, showing us the potential career opportunities that could be available in the future. Our pupils represented the school brilliantly.”

- Miss Quinn, Careers Lead at Academy 360

The second part of the visit included a tour of the Nissan factory, giving students the chance to see the production line in action and observe how cars are carefully built step by step. Witnessing the combination of advanced technology, precision engineering, and teamwork highlighted the real-world application of skills such as attention to detail, organisation and practical problem solving, providing valuable insight into potential careers in engineering and manufacturing.
