Bright Sparks Year 10 Computer Scientists Visit Newcastle University
Back
On Thursday 16th October, our Year 10 Computer Science students had the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Newcastle University. The trip formed part of their GCSE studies and focused on developing key skills in problem solving, abstraction and decomposition.
During the visit, students engaged in a variety of problem-solving activities, challenging them to think critically and work collaboratively. They were then tasked with applying their creativity by designing a new wearable device, using the computer science concepts they have been learning in school.
“The afternoon really complemented what we have been learning in the classroom. I can’t wait for our next visit!”
- Mrs Harnett, Year 10 teacher at Academy 360
Staff were particularly impressed by the students’ enthusiasm and innovative ideas, with many pupils demonstrating advanced thinking and imaginative solutions. The trip provided a hands-on experience that brought classroom theory to life, inspiring our young computer scientists to continue developing their skills.
