Academy 360 proudly announces its achievement of the Silver History Quality Mark, a prestigious award recognising the exceptional quality of the history curriculum in the primary phase. This accolade reflects our commitment to providing enriching educational experiences and high-quality resources for our students.

The History Quality Mark highlights the excellence in teaching, progress and leadership within the history curriculum at Academy 360. Under the dedicated leadership of Sarah Bolton, the History leader, and with the unwavering support from the Senior Leadership Team and staff, the school has excelled in delivering a curriculum that not only educates but also inspires a love for history. The commitment to continuous improvement is evident, and the History Quality Mark recognises the efforts of the entire school community in fostering an environment where history education thrives.

Parents, an integral part of Academy 360’s school community, have been actively involved and valued in the educational journey of their children. The History Quality Mark notes that parents appreciate the opportunities to engage in their child's history education, especially through educational visits, such as local walks to the cenotaph, Beamish, Roman forts, and museums.

The strength of history-focussed enrichment at Academy 360 is identified as a key factor contributing to this achievement. The school's well-planned and thoughtfully executed history enrichment programmes provide additional opportunities for students to delve deeper into historical concepts and events, enhancing their overall educational experience.

Academy 360 remains dedicated to delivering excellence in history education and providing students with a strong foundation in understanding the past. This achievement is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the school’s staff, students, and the invaluable support of their parents and the local community.

Helena West, Head of Primary at Academy 360 said:

"We are immensely proud to have achieved the History Quality Mark, a testament to the depth of our history curriculum and the exceptional delivery by our dedicated teachers. This recognition highlights our commitment to providing a comprehensive and enriching educational experience for our students. We believe in fostering an environment where all stakeholders, including students, parents, and the broader community, can actively participate and take pride in the exploration of history. This achievement reaffirms our dedication to excellence in education and our ongoing commitment to creating a learning journey that is both meaningful and engaging for every student at Academy 360."

Sarah Bolton, History Lead at Academy 360 added:

"I am thrilled and immensely proud of our accomplishment in attaining the History Quality Mark. It has been a journey of hard work and dedication, and this achievement truly reflects the commitment of our exceptional staff, engaged parents, and the robust curriculum at Academy 360. On a personal level, I feel both honoured and well-supported. This recognition not only acknowledges the collective effort of our school community but also affirms the success of our approach to history education. I am delighted that my leadership has been recognised and look forward to continuing our journey of providing outstanding history education for our students."

Peregrine Solly, Chair of Governors and a Trustee for Laidlaw Schools Trust, is simply delighted with the recognition of the History award. As a keen historian himself, he recognises the importance of children within schools. He would like to congratulate Mrs West, Mrs Bolton and all of other staff involved.
