Student Careers

We aim to respond to the needs of students, to labour market information and to employers, while ensuring we equip our children with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen career paths.

We have a strong commitment to social mobility. We raise the aspirations of our students and believe that exposure to careers through first-hand experiences, conversations and guidance from an early age is the key to helping young people make informed and positive choices when choosing a career pathway.

We have a whole-school approach to careers education, advice and guidance (CEIAG). We are moving towards all staff supporting the delivery of CEIAG through the pastoral system and curriculum areas. This is imperative to ensure our children realise their early education is a stepping stone to their chosen career paths. It is the responsibility of all staff to engage in conversations and highlight links to careers and employability skills throughout the academy.

Gatsby Benchmarks

Our careers programme has been structured around the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance which are:

  1. A stable careers programme
  2. Learning from career and labour market information
  3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
  4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
  5. Encounters with employers and employees
  6. Experiences of workplaces
  7. Encounters with further and higher education
  8. Personal guidance

To ensure we address all of the benchmarks, Careers Education at Academy 360 is holistic, balanced and personalised. Our aim is to enthuse students and support them to make informed decisions about their future career pathway.

Careers education is delivered in a variety of ways across year groups and is embedded into our activities calendar so that all students have numerous opportunities to experience high quality career information, advice and guidance.
